The City of Oakwood Ohio has a heritage of being a “premiere residential community”.  It has a population of 9,215 and covers approximately 3 square miles.  It is located North of Kettering, West of Beavercreek and South of Dayton Ohio.  Oakwood is a beautiful residential community with tree-lined streets and has that small town feel.

Housing

Oakwood is a developed area of older homes constructed dating back to the 1920s.  There is a wide-range of housing choices and prices.  Homes prices normally range from $100,000 for small ranch homes to well over $1,000,000 for estate style homes in Oakwood.  Although most of the homes were built many years ago, it is rare to find any run-down housing as the residents of Oakwood are very active in updating and renovating their homes regularly. 

Schools

Oakwood schools are among some of the best in the area.  Oakwood's schools were rated excellent by the Ohio Department of Education for 2005-2006.

Recreation

Oakwood is a great place for fun.  There is the Oakwood Community Center with the Gardner Pool – a great place for residents to relax from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  There is a great room there with aerobic and ballet classes.  There is a teen center with ping pong, billiards, a big-screen TV and other games.  There is exercise equipment with universal, nautilus and free-weight machines.  The Community Center sponsors trips for students and adults and offers sports events such as volleyball, tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and swimming.  There are also art, drama, dance and gymnastics classes.  Tennis is a great tradition in Oakwood.  There are courts at Shafor and Orchardly Parks known to be some of the finest public use courts around.
